Our mission is to offer travellers a home while exploring Iceland. Our houses are surrounded by stunning nature and beautiful views, making Viking Cottages the perfect place to relax between adventures in North Iceland.
LOCATION
Viking Cottages is located in an exclusive residential area in Vaðlaheiði, across Eyjafjordur from Akureyri, the capital of North Iceland. Surrounded by nature yet within easy reach of the city, the location offers a peaceful retreat with beautiful views across the fjord towards Akureyri. Akureyri Airport is approximately a 7-minute drive away, while the city’s shops, cafés, restaurants and attractions are also easily accessible. Away from the city lights, Viking Cottages offers excellent conditions for experiencing the Northern Lights during Aurora season, as well as the Midnight Sun and long summer evenings during the warmer months.

The location of Viking Cottages provides easy access to both Akureyri and the many attractions and activities of North Iceland. The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures, including hiking, horse riding, kayaking, swimming, diving and golf. You can hike Mt. Súlur, enjoy horse riding under the Midnight Sun, or simply explore the beautiful landscapes surrounding Eyjafjörður.
During winter, the region offers skiing, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing and ice fishing, along with many other seasonal activities. With so much to experience throughout the year, Viking Cottages is a convenient base for exploring the region.
North Iceland is also perfect for scenic day trips. Explore the shores of Eyjafjörður, visit the spectacular waterfalls Goðafoss and Dettifoss, discover the unique landscapes of Dimmuborgir and Mývatn, or head to Húsavík for whale watching. From Akureyri, you can also take an organised day trip to Grímsey, the island that crosses the Arctic Circle.
